the wave of pictures from japan does not abate. i half-heartedly apologise for the bad play on words, but please, try to understand me: with every new picture i seem to loose a little empathy. something serious is happening on the other side of the planet and i get blunted by an endless loop of what-if-scenarios and exchangeable catastrophy photography. don’t misinterpret all this as the usual criticism of media coverage. take it as my confession, that i cannot possibly built up strong feelings towards something that far away. i do not trust anyone in my environment who claims to be deeply touched by all that. i agree, the situation in japan seems to be horrible. i hope for the best, but that’s it. i am incapable to go any further.

beautiful decay posted a bunch of pictures today. they cynically named their post amazing photos of japan earthquake. i maybe should not point at people when it comes to cynicism – especially because i am going to repost several of these pictures now.
